Hi Matt. I’m planning to be with you on Thursday evening for the game. Would it be ok if I created my own character (still a halfling thief) in place of the pre-generated character I played with in the first session?

Yes Steve that will be fine; we went up to level 2 at the end of last week so if you build him at level 2 that would be as fantastic as a beast and where to find it.
