I think I prefer Hugh's version...

even in the 80's the was no excuse for that!
Red Wine should always be opened and allowed to breathe....

if it doesn't apply mouth to bottle resuscitation.

GETTING THE PARTY GOING…

A new beer from warpstone breweries.
CORRUPTION!
The rise of the champion (of Nurgle!)
Dell is overcome (scurrilous rumours that he fainted to avoid a fight!)
The breath of Nurgle strikes, Heinrick is striken
Sigmars light and a few well-placed blows.

PICKING UP THE PEICES

The party is a wash out.
Gaurds secure those in the throws of violent mutation
The sick are cared for.
Heinrick receives the benediction of Sigmar
Prinz has a religious revelation, and a glint of madness in his eye
Dell is unconscious but looks unharmed despite his close contact with the champion, tension relieved as the he snores loudly and is awakened.
Rapidly decomposing remains of the champion, and the nurglings. The evidence is decaying... literally

A quick thinking Lord Holtzenaur (who is unharmed) moves quickly to limit political damage. He infers that Lord Aschenfascenberg is responsible (Lord A left the party early suffering from excess drink!)

Lord Saponatheim is carried from the hall by his servants.

When people begin to look, it is noted that Lord Bruner has vacated the hall quickly, his son having transformed into a chaos beast!
A number of other minor lords and ladies are increasingly vocal and hysterical (but safe).

Orubayne arrives. Cool calm and collected (party stress meter up by one, he is, after all, irritatingly clean and uncorupted!)
Orubayne notes that there is evidence of his quarry (the Kidnapper) is/was present. The Kidnapper entered the house via the well but was followed by something not human…
Orubayne knows the location of the Kidnapper’s lair

THE SEWERS

Its dank, dark and smells worse than Dell’s jockstrap.
BUT relief! Morrisleb’s effects are perceptibly reduced…
Backtracking the Kidnapper
An attack from the dark
Warpstone throwing stars

A fiendish trap by passed

THE LAIR OF THE KIDNAPPER

Kick open the door… The crates and boxes are really scared!
The exit from the sewer and the chamber of the Kidnapper.
A letter from Raksnit
Warpstone grenados
An exit to the VON SAP estate
Trailing the kidnapper

VON SAPONATHIEM ESTATE

Entry is easy
The kidnapper is in the lord’s study…
A furious fight
The kidnapper laid low.
The guards arrive.
Some fancy explanations, the kidnapper under guard and lock and key
Everyone instructed to wait for Lord Sap!

Outstanding issues

The connection between the kidnapper and VON SAP
The connection between the kidnapper and Raksnit (who is that?)
Warspstone Grenados (hand with care)
Lord Aschenfascenberg
Lord Holzenaur
Lord Bruner
The evidence of large rats….

DM’s comments

The final week this week chaps. Not wishing to overtly direct you, but the completion lies in finding Raksnit.
For game purposes I’m going to have the following sequence of events play out as follows:

Lord Sap arrives home around midnight (approx. 1 hour after you)… and you are summonsed to a meeting in drawing room. He looks tired and is dirty and dishevelled, his fancy costume is stained with dirt, lamp oil and he smells slightly of fish…

Without hesitation, he explains that one of his agents has reported back. The events at the party are part of an Aschenfascenberg plot. The nature of the plot was to discredit (and potentially remove) competing nobles from the field so as to allow Ashenfascenberg to be a clear choice for the lordship of Ubersreik. There may also be a link to the Bruners. The agent informed Lord Sap, that the von bruners provided the warpstone used to poison guests, thereby discrediting the host of the party the Holzenaurs.
Your intuition is that Lord Sap is telling the truth as he sees it but is holding something back.

When challenged about his kidnapping and the kidnapper upstairs. Lord Sap advises that political interplay is complex in the empire. His agents had suggested that both he, and Lord Aschenfascenberg were at risk. His response was to organise a kidnapping (that was reported to the authorities by the inn keeper) and then ‘turn up’ at the party safe and sound. He would have political capital and avoid any traps or danger. He is very concerned that some of his plans were known to Lord Ashenfascenberg (hence his meeting with you at the hotel where he and Lord Ash agreed a course of action). Lord Sap intuits that your failure to keep order was therefore undermined by Lord Ashenfascenberg’s prior knowledge of your role!
Your intuition tells you that the explanation is certainly plausible if convoluted, that said you don’t operate in a world with nobles!

When challenged about the warpstone grenados, and the note, Lord Sap advises that he knows nothing about them. He needs to speak to the Kidnapper and establish what these mean.
Your intuition tells you that this isn’t the entire truth.

Lord Sap advises that he needs someone to clean up this mess immediately. He is willing to pay handsomely. His seneschal arrives in the room with a pouch containing 10 gold pieces. Lord Sap will double that if you can help him. He wants you to investigate the incident at the party, in particular the non human footprints. He explains that whilst Skaven are not spoken of in public, killing them and quashing their threats is an unspoken means of advancement in noble circles. Should you succeed he will advance his reputation significantly and his ascension to lord of Ubersreik is one step nearer.

Lord Sap advises that he has an armoury in the basement. Should you choose to help him, he will provide you with access to his armoury to select what equipment you need.

Lord Sap orders wine for all, and excuses himself to change. He will expect your decision within the hour.
We will start the game at that point.
Red Wine should always be opened and allowed to breathe....

if it doesn't apply mouth to bottle resuscitation.

"Body Parts" Lyrics

Morning, afternoon, and night
We lay together side by side
Lacking two arms
Lacking two legs
Searchin' for the touch of life

No words are spoken
Cos we’ve lost our head
We’re body parts, body parts

The loss of limbs is such
A shitty thing as blood overflows
Displeasure grows with the nightmares it can bring
Ooh, severed lips and thighs and ears and eyes
We’re body parts, body parts

Cruel not kind, hard and impure, a non-touching moment
Heated feelings once explode, but now tortured
We a figure torn apart with bitter weapons
Through aggression not nice expression, we have become many from one..

Lacking two arms
Lacking two legs
Searchin' for the touch of life

No words are spoken
Cos we are now dead
Cos we’re body parts, body parts

(Oh arms to torso to head to ears to eyes... (fade out))

Lord Sap's little problem...

Lord Sap arrives home. He's dirty smelly and obviously disturbed!
An explanation:
  • Lord Sap arranged the kidnapping of himself
intelligence suggested he and Lord Ash were at risk due to the Von Bruners
the meeting was with Lord Sap and Lord A
Lord A suffered no mutations or serious loss of prestige
    Lord Sap needs a coo!

Lord Sap blames Lord Ash
The evidence
  • Lord A knew of the players role at the party
he didn't get mutated but conveniently was ill...
The 'servant' worked for Lord A for 'many years' obviously a double agent!
The events hurt, the Von Bruners, Von Holz and Von Saps, not Ashenfascenberg!
  • trail of breadcrumbs... Lord Ash is working with the rats!
The armoury
A scream... Lord Sap injured - a dagger to the shoulder!
Treachery!

The kidnapper escapes

Enter the sewers slay the rats!
kudos for Lord Sap, gold for you!

The Sewers
Dark and smelly sewers hide the evil plot
Skaven missiles
Skaven warriors
Raksnit the sorcerer!
Gristlegore the ogre

The shrine to the horned rat.
Raksnit's plans.

********************************************

Thanks for making it a really interesting session guys. apologies we ran out of time, needed an extra 30mins!

The result of the encounter is likely to have been as follows:

Gristlegore would hammer at the nearest fighter, probably the dwarf, and, supported by Raksnt's magic will likely have rendered two or more of you unconscious before succumbing to magic from Heinrick. (heinriks sigmar's hammer spell would probably be the only effective weapon against the ogre... though Dell might have got very lucky!)

The ogre would use his reactions to prevent the party getting to Raksnit, who would escape in a hurry if the ogre looks seriously wounded. The Skaven shaman leaves everything bar his medicine bag and a warpstone magical item that he uses to create a warpstone gas to make his escape.

Evidence in the lair shows that the rats have had help from someone... There is evidence to suggest that a lord may have been talking directly to the beasts. Pouches of gold at the lair bear the markings of Von Bruner, Von Holzenaur, and Ashenfascenberg. (10gp)

Corruption
Anyone entering the lair would receive 2 corruption
anyone entering the workshop (Raksnits area) would likely receive 2 more. and more again if you touch the gold.
Any struck by Raksnit's spells in the lair also suffers corruption as a side effect.
The Ogre Grsitlegore has been llving with warpstone and his criticals also cause corruption.

it is likely that players would have received 4-6 more corruption with the resulting effects!

Gold
assuming you collect all the gold... you will have 5-8gp each. a fortune!
you can consider patronage with Lord Sap who is impressed with you. a As non of you have guile trained, you will probably miss the deeper nuances of the evidence. those with decent intuition may decide that everything is a little too neat. Lord Sap seems to have come out of this ahead, but the evidence is clearly mounting against the other lords!

Rewards
A further 2 xp to spend.

Thanks for playing in this guys. I really enjoyed it, we may get back to Ubersreik in the future as the end of this has all manner of variant spin offs I'd like to pursue!
