For Carnaby, possibly know others from shooting clubs, may have bought art from the spiv Frenchie, an interest in the occult has always been a passion. Carnaby's second is his father Prof.James Carnaby (archaeology) ret. Less flash more substance, although sixty five, still has the passion, only just returned from an expedition up the Amazon.

2nd Char:

Marjorie Douglas Age: 27
Residence: 11 Franklin St, #67, Newark, New Jersey.
Mode of Transport: Yellow cab
Tools of the trade: Plumb bob, tea leaves, cigarette holder, handbag.

A native New-Yorker, Marjorie (Marj) is the gallery assistant at Rousseau's, a gallery on West 46th St. She studied for an honours degree in Modern European Art at Columbia University. She's been working at Rousseau's since graduating. She met the owner, Jean at an exhibition where they found they had a similar love of art. She manages the day-to-day running of the gallery whilst her employer is away on business. In her spare time, Marj has an interest in meditation and spiritual healing and offers readings, crystal healings and other such things to supplement her main income.

How do you all know each other?

Ernest Enfield, Lancelot Rutherford-Hill - could regularly buy art from me? Or met during the countless Atlantic crossings the two have made in first class, (and Jean as a regular steward) then proceeding to buy art from me.

Carnaby Wright: As mentioned, could also have bought art from Jean. Connection through Marj at Columbia? Maybe there is a connection with her as a spiritual reader and his interests. (Possibly a club or a society at the uni?).

Akio Himura: Noted as a linguist. Maybe Jean was helping polish his French?

Why would you investigate matters of the occult and paranormal?

Originally believing it to be: Cest des conneries! (a load of bullshit) Jean's initial interest could have been piqued some after readings from Marj that made contact with some important spirits from his past - particularly some of Jean's ex crew mates who died on the RMS Titanic's maiden voyage. Now with help from Marj he's eager to learn more about this spiritual side.

Most probably (under the circumstances) to aid a friend in peril or avenge some misdeed against said imperiled folk.

Or of course, if Sir Lancelot asked me to help him out with "some queer business going on".

Confucius Says: Is it not a joy to have friends come from afar?

Anyone that knows Sir Lancelot will know Akio. He is his travelling companion/manservant.

Why would your characters become investigators?
