Notebook of Miker Filery:

I am in luck... the mysticism pursuing this group is immense...at every turn they are pursued by shamanic powers, somebody works against them (me)?

On the boat, I can scarce believe the events even though they appeared very real... according to the Frenchman we were at least 4 days from Port Headland... then the dreamtime vision happened. I found myself looking at the horizon and seeing a huge figure rapidly approaching, the Sand bat from legend, its eyes and claws and face reaching toward me... ripping at my flesh... and then gone! it is surely some form of warning... the others too have been afflicted by there own vision, and despite the passage of only minutes, Port Headland is upon us... some Abo shaman is responsible.

Arriving in port, the events on board ship... The clues to a local shipping company demand urgent and immediate action. Forgoing subtlety we try a more direct approach.

Success... we have evidence of trade with a network of cults worldwide. most particularly though is the recent communications with Concudgerie (from the accounts)... there is a dig out there somewhere, and the temples to the sand bat.. it all begins to make sense.

we also happen upon a device... lens and mirrors... it seems somehow important but has no obvious use.

More disturbing is the stature... the first real link to the world wide cult... evidence that the professor was right.. it is marked Cthulhu... and is hideous to behold, and is destined for Penhew. I worry for the mental fortitude of my comrades.

A fire occurred tonight, one of the local dockside warehouses burned... presumably these are the same thieves that tried to stow away aboard our boat, and used some form of vile poison(on darts) to afflict Akio and Carnaby, both are in critical condition according to Lancelot. Either way we need to keep going... the answers lie onwards. I am more convinced than ever that the only way to solve this riddle is through research of the books...

Must send telegram to the Bishop...

"Yada-yada-yada.... on and on and on.. ;) Definitely want to see it through! I also would like to play the second character - will make a nice change. I delved back to page 3 of this epic thread and found:

2nd Char:

Marjorie Douglas
Age: 27
Residence: 11 Franklin St, #67, Newark, New Jersey.
Mode of Transport: Yellow cab
Tools of the trade: Plumb bob, tea leaves, cigarette holder, handbag.

A native New-Yorker, Marjorie (Marj) is the gallery assistant at Rousseau's, a gallery on West 46th St. She studied for an honours degree in Modern European Art at Columbia University. She's been working at Rousseau's since graduating. She met the owner, Jean at an exhibition where they found they had a similar love of art. She manages the day-to-day running of the gallery whilst her employer is away on business. In her spare time, Marj has an interest in meditation and spiritual healing and offers readings, crystal healings and other such things to supplement her main income.

So the continuing exploits against the mad faceless god continues next Thursday (Is it that time already!?)

In the first week I plan to continue in Australia then alternate to... Oh, hang on a minute, you still haven't decided where your second investigators will be visiting.

Can you decide between you which place you want to go to please. The choices are Cairo or Kenya. It's probably more logical to go to Cairo first, but am happy to go with whatever you choose.

Those still needing to create second characters, it would be appreciated if they could be done for next week so I can review and have them with me.

Message sent by Major-General Dr. Sir J.A Lancelot Rutherford-Hill on 21st July 1925 from Nairobi to somewhere in Egypt...

Dear Midnight,

To say that our affairs in Australia were interesting is a vast understatement. Suffice to say, I would rather you read about it in the missives I have sent rather than I have to write about it again here; I feel it would affect my sensibilities further to relive the horrors..

We have all arrived safely in Mombasa. One would have thought the journey to Nairobi would be eventless. However, that same one has clearly not met us.

I cannot directly write about one of our party member's involvement in a particular incident (due to possible incrimination and repercussion), but I will say we left the harbour in a more hurried fashion than desired...

Regarding the train journey to Nairobi, some infernal mystic (whom we think spotted us and whom we think we also spotted on arrival to Mombasa) sent blazing balls of fire to attack us on the train. Through ingenuity, guile and bravery, we were able to dispatch them - but these... creatures... in the melee, destroyed our equipment. Also, once the train had stopped and passengers and crew alike spent time putting out the fires and treating the casualties, we were questioned by the train stewards, who presumed we had started the fire! Matters escalated when Aiko took it upon himself in a worryingly-more characteristic pique of rage, drew his gun, pointed it at the chief steward and threatened him with immediate violence!

When I tried to intervene - he also threatened me. He has not done this since our first meeting over twenty-five years ago.

(I trust this shows you the effect that this damned endeavour has had on us all...)

Clearly, the steward had no option but to disallow him back on the train. And so, with little chance of a goodbye (as by this time, Aiko had blended into the darkness of the jet-black jungle with its hoots, growls and eeriness), we boarded the train and headed off...

(I am certain Aiko is safe. I know that you know like I know how resourceful he is.)

As I write, we are now in Nairobi. Whilst the rest of the party deal with investigating matters, I will ensure that we are well-resourced and provisioned and that what happened on the train is resolved with the authorities.

I hope to see you at the location for the end game.

Your friend

Jupiter

P.S - regards to Beverly. Hope 'Old Gammy' has not gotten you (and more likely, himself) into TOO much trouble!

Nice post Hugh.

Tick 2 skills of your choice that are below 80%, Except Cthulhu Mythos

Anyone else up for 2 skill increases by doing a write-up...?

Scott,

Not too sure whether I'll make it this evening. If I haven't arrived by 8.30 and Aka turns up, please pass him my character sheet and ask him to play Burns for the evening. Thanks.
