The old Goblin Shaman was worried. The retreat from the ruins left her more troubled than she allowed the others to see. Deeply unsettled by the shadow-things, she sensed that what lies beneath these ruins is something else entirely, something more powerful, lusting... evil. Ratajack never liked that word... dark deeds were present everywhere and mostly the result of stupidity of people who should know better tthan to mess, messing anyway and reaping the consequences of their stupidity and then blaming it somehow on this nebulous 'evil'. Evil was so... absolute. Still she couldnt shake the feeling that somehow, this thing in the ground might qualify.
The death of the priest has convinced her that charging blindly back into the darkness would be foolish. She had stated as much very clearly but the rest of the motley group seem oblivious to the risk despite having tasted the powerful cursed touch of the tainted souls. Even the arrival of Fenya and her Son offering some martial support didnt help quell her fears. During the night the wiley goblin decided that the Mage the Bartolam fellow knows more than he is sharing. Were his group of arcane dabblers so twisted as to deliberately withold vital information? The thought played on her mind, and her fears, until Ratajack realised she needed to know for sure. Waking her Ogrish son and Fenya and instructing them to to exercise care and do nothing before she returns, the goblin disappeared into the night in search of answers.
Ratajack's knew her warnings would go unheeded, and her advice will probablyfall on deaf ears. Her strict instructions to the mercurial Fenya and her honour bond lump of a Son, that they are not to return beneath the ruins until she has had the chance to work out exactly what they are dealing with would be ignored. Her final words to them were exasperated... but just maybe they will listen this once!
"If you idiots go back down there before I return, at least have the courtesy to leave your bodies somewhere I can find them."
Once safely away from the ruins, Ratajack makes her way back towards Thistlehold and Blackmoor. Old goblin lore, and some of those with knowledge of this area may be convinced to speak with her. And perhaps the chance gather the herbs, charms and other protections might give the group a fighting chance against the abominations below.
But there is another reason, the mage needs to be piut to the question... and if necessary 'convinced' to share his infromation. Feeling the pressure of time, even as the dawn breaks The goblin steals into Thistlehold just the the group discover her absence and react to her words of warning....
