Remember that, though this is not a Classical Greek setting, it has a Classical Greek flavour. The weapons and armour available reflect that. You can still gain the benefit of many core 5e items but need to reskin them in your imagination. For instance heavy armour is not full plate, instead it is a bronze chest piece with grieves and braces and a bronze helm. A longsword is a xiphos, the bronze double-edged leaf-shaped short sword of the Greeks etcetera. No crossbows. No caltrops blah, blah, blah.

A RECAP OF THE SORY SO FAR

The first of probably several short posts over the coming days

Thylea a great continent surrounded by numerous islands and dangerous seas has experienced relative peace since the ending of the First War, in which the Dragonlords defeated the Titans. A truce was struck to mark the cease of hostilities. The Oath of Peace has prevented open warfare for five hundred years. But now the truce is ending and Versi, the Oracle, has prophesised impending doom for Thylea.

The continuing threat of the Titans is perpetuated by Sydon, Lord of Oceans and Storms, and his sister-wife Lutheria, Mistress of the Underworld and Death. The Titans and their loyal adherents stand ready to wage war once more and restore their dominance over Thylea. The Oath of Peace expires in just a few days time from now.

THE FIVE GODS

Kyrah
Goddess of Art &Music. The poet set you three great labours to prove your worthiness to serve Thylea in the great quest that is to come.

Pythor
God of War. King of Estoria. A drunken womaniser. Father of Castor, and to probably a hundred or more other beings too – not so special now, eh Castor?

Volkan
God of the Forge. Resident of Estoria. Gruff but fair. Gets bored quickly when mortals try to engage him in conversation. Perfectionist and greatest master blacksmith in existence. Crafted various items for the party, including bronze wings for Ezrael to use until such time as he earns his real wings back.

Vallus
Goddess of Wisdom. Wife of King Acastus of Mytros. She has proven herself to be a friend and ally to the party. The party entrusted the Horn of Balmytria to her care. She presented the gift of a dragon egg to Duane, smuggled out of Acastus’ own dragon eyrie.

Mytros
Goddess of the Dawn. Known to some as the Silver Queen, Mytros is considered the most powerful of the Five. The greatest city in Thylea is named for her. The goodess is absent from the world having ascended to the heavens centuries ago, following a cataclysmic battle with Sydon and Lutheria.

THE CITY STATES OF THYLEA

Estoria
King Pythor, a drunken womaniser and estranged father to Castor, rules in Estoria. The party saved his daughter, Princess Anora, from being sacrificed at the will of the Order of Sydon, to satisfy their master and as a mark of continuing peace with the Titans.

Mytros
King Acastus, the greatest of mortals (in his own not very humble opinion) rules Mytros, the greatest city in Thylea. Acastus is considered the last descendant of the Dragonlords, and hopes one day to resurrect that Order. His queen is the goddess Vallus. Recently his lands have been beset by raging storms; a demonstration of the growing power of Sydon, and a sign of the titan’s impatient wait for the end of the Oath of Peace.

Aresia
Ruled over by a class of warrior-monks, Aresia is the greatest rival to the Kingdom of Mytros.

ACT 2

Mytros
The city of Mytros – raging storms (Sydon’s power grows) – King Acastus (the not-so humble) – the Council debates how to counter the storms and placate Sydon: Commander Gaius recommends destroying the Temple of the Five Gods; Bella (king’s concubine) recommends magic (involving mass sacrifice of oxen); Chondrus (emissary of the Cult of Lutheria) recommends seventy children take the black robe; Queen Vallus recommends combining the might of the gods – the gods save the city.

Acastus provides the heroes with a map to find the legendary ship, Ultros. Vallus warns the heroes that Acastus is a powerful and jealous man. Though Acastus will genuinely want the heroes to succeed in their endeavours against the Titans- he won’t want the heroes to win fame and glory for it – Acastus will no doubt seek to claim the glory for himself.

Search for the Ultros
Journey to the Dead Falls – the secret underground lake – the ghost ship Ultros – spectres in a box – Death of Castor – Pythor breathes life back into his son (resurrection of a demi-god is a one-time deal) – the Ultros plunges into a dreamworld version of the Cerulean Sea

Captain of the Ultros
Captain Estor Arkelander – a test to appoint a new captain – clearing out traitorous ghost crew – swearing fealty to the Ultros – Arkelander hands Ezrael the captain’s hat (which turns out to be a curse, as the new captain becomes partly possessed by the old one) – exit the dreamworld – bring us the sea spray aboard the band new Ultros (not a ghost ship anymore) – return to Mytros and King Acastus

Mytros Again and a Crew for the Ultros
Greetings from Acastus riding on his black dragon – a feast in your honour – the Oath of Peace expires in sixty days – you must force a new oath or defeat the titans once and for all – a crew of more than sixty is assembled from the finest athletes, sailors and warriors – also joining the crew are Kyrah (who always inspires confidence), Pythor (lock up the alcohol stores), Versi (the Oracle, who is reluctant to let Ajax out of her sight for too long) and Loreus (the satyr rescued from the Mossy Temple).

Departing Gifts
Gifts and stores are presented at the dockside – a strange bronze artefact (the Antikythera) which is used to navigate the seas– to Duane, Vallus sneaks a secret gift – a bronze casket within which she has smuggled out a dragon’s egg from Acastus’ heavily guarded hatchery in the city’s dragon eyrie.

Setting Sail
The Antikythera has been sabotaged. Vallus suspects Gaius who has recently fled to the Order of Sydon’s headquarters on the Isle of Yonder. A cog has been removed which prevents certain constellations being set in the Antikythera. Without this cog the heroes will not be able to sail safely in the Forgotten Sea. Other passages may still be set. The heroes set the Antikythera to the first constellation of their choice – the Gygan. The Gygan allows the Ultros to be navigated to the Isle of Yonder.

The Isle of Yonder
Three days out from Mytros – the Isle of Yonder in the Cerulean Gulf – battle with gygans and cultists of the Order of Sydon – Ezreal has developed a bloodlust since accepting the captaincy – Plains of Yonder – the citadel – Death of Xander (in a harpy cage atop a stone colossus) – the private quarters of Commander Gauis you learn from papers that the titans have their own rivalry (they do not present a united threat) – Ajax reclaims his dragonscale armour

Chondrus
Chondrus the adherent of Lutheria is found at the citadel – striking a deal – Chondrus agrees to guide you to Hypnos for an audience with Lutheria to plead your case to the Lady of Dreams – Chondrus gives you the missing piece of the Antikythera – he tells you Gaius is abroad on his dragon, but will return soon – best weapon against an aerial dragon are the ballistae on the Ultros – time to leave...
