Is anyone at the club interested in the World of Darkness settings? Vampire, Werewolf etc.

I've see no signs of at the club, but wondered whether there was any interest lurking in the shadows.

In the spirit of communication, I have absolutely no interest in World of Darkness. :D

I ran Vampire the Masquerade for a couple of rotations, a very long time ago. It received mixed feelings. I like the game, but personally I don't think it lends itself too well for the 8 week rotation system. It requires a much longer period to get the characters right and really get to work on what is really a very political game.

I found my players getting restless and really want to beat the living daylight a out of something. Eg.

"The Prince summons you to an audience. At the court blah blah blah blah interesting plot device blah blah blah clever story hook blah blah blah rough guide line as to what is expected blah blah"

"I'm hungry I'll go out and drink some O positive. I'll leave the corpse, gives something for the humans to investigate."

"Yes but you have to feed quietly"

"Why I'm a vampire it's what I do"

"Yes but your supposed be tormented about it, in conflict about your nature."

"So I can't go out and...."

"You can but you will get noticed by the court and the Prince, remember."

"I hear what your saying, but why can't I ....."

"You can, but you have a mission......"

"Right then you said I can, I go out and leave a wake of corpses behind"

Basically in 8 week rotations players are like the hulk "Hulk smash puny creatures"

Amber was another game that has been run with varying degrees of success, also with a highly political game mechanic.

I think it depends which WoD game you mean.
I tried playing Vampire and I didn't like it. there was the whole thing about being in thrall to the prince, and then there was the whole how to exist by drinking peoples blood without anybody noticing thing (alright for one week, otherwise tiresome, or otherwise completely ignore - then whats the point in being a vampire?) - I'm with Bane on this one.
There were many WW WoD games published and you could play a Fey (Changeling), a Werewolf (Werewolf), a Mage (Mage), a monster hunter (Hunter) and so on and so forth.
there was also a WoD game where you were a "ordinary" human and you were up against all these horrors from the other games.
I dabbled a bit with the Dark Ages line, where the monsters were all regressed to the Dark Ages, I really think I preferred this.
My real favourite was Mage: The Sorcerors Crusade, - Mage rolled back to the late middle Ages and the Early Renaissance. The only barrier to me ever actually running this was the too open-ended Mage Magic system because I absolutely love the setting.
Amber is getting off the point really. it was an interesting game, and maybe it would be good for one rotation, but I think that would be enough for most people.
I've got some of the rulebooks from before the WW apocalypse - when they basically rewrote all their core rulebooks.

I think the replies are confirming my suspicions that running Vampire or Werewolf probably wouldn't work at the club. They're the sort of games that require full player buy in, and as it's not one of the BCRPS mainstays (CoC, Savage Worlds or D&D/Pathfinder) it'd likely just mop up the players who couldn't get a game elsewhere.

I'd be quite tempted at some point to run a Monster Hunter style game in the future though, whether it's using Hunter the Vigil or another system I think this would work a lot better in an 8 week rotation and I think the theme of finding monsters and then killing them would be more in line with most peoples tastes

There's an appeal.on the form but want to check if they have anything.they can give me as well.

mikeawmids - Thu 2 May - 18:18

I have sent a message to the Coronation Club FB profile asking what the appeal process is, just in case there is no-one on site tonight who can answer that question.

Sarge - Thu 2 May - 11:17

That was the last week of the rotation. Definitely challenge if you are sure you signed in

Just outside the car park now, there are still a few people from the wake at the moment

Garuda - Thu 11 Apr - 17:39

Should have read the posts below better. Looks like I'll be giving it a miss this week.

Garuda - Thu 11 Apr - 17:36

Did club indicate wake will go on all evening? Not a fan of gaming in the bar.
