RIP Steve Betney

It’s with sadness that I report on the passing of a former long-time club member, Steve Betney. He had battled ill heath for several years, finally succumbing on the 12th May.

Those who wish to attend the funeral, it is Tuesday 13th June 11:30 at Rowley Crematorium, before moving on to the Coronation Club.

Steve was a great inspiration to many at the club, introducing many of us to new games and always pushing the boundaries of what we did. Amongst many, many games he ran I have very fond memories of him running Vampire, Amber and even running a “whole club” participation of an Ars Magica tribunal.

He was also a massive CCG fan playing Magic the Gathering, Jyhad/VTES and Netrunner. In those days he would play a deck at the club with a black lotus and a full set of Moxies - Something no longer possible without an armed escort.

Also, I will always have a place in my heart for Professor Podsworthy, his vile and bigoted investigator in my own Call of Cthulhu campaign.

Steve was a funny, smart and friendly guy and will be greatly missed.
